1. Keep Costs in Mind
Just like with any other aspect of your wedding, we always advise our clients to keep in mind the cost of their wedding invitations. You want to choose something that's beautiful but still within your budget. For example, when sending out your wedding invitations, be sure to include everyone in the household, as opposed to every single person that's on the guest list. You can save on stationery costs as well as postage. Keeping costs in mind is first on our 7 Tips on How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Invitations.
2. Consider Your Theme
Another one of our 7 Tips on How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Invitations is to consider your theme. For instance, is your wedding formal, rustic, bohemian, or a beach wedding. If you are having an outdoor wedding, consider wedding invitations that are bright and colorful, or one that has flowers. If you're having a formal wedding, you should may want to consider the colors black and white.
3. Collect Samples
Also on our list of 7 Tips on How to Choose the Perfect Wedding Invitations is to collect samples. We recommend attending bridal shows where the options are plentiful. Also, a good place to start would be Pinterest and Instagram. You can get an idea of what you like on Pinterest or you can connect with the actual designer on Instagram.
4. Choose a Color Scheme
Just like with everything else when it comes to your wedding, you want to choose a color scheme. Take your time when choosing your colors. Your wedding planner can help you decide on colors that complement each other. Also, choose something that goes along with the season.
5. Think About the Venue
When you think about your wedding invitations, you should think about the wedding venue also. Your venue can inspire anything from the colors you choose to the style of paper. If your wedding venue is outdoors, consider something with flowers and greenery. If your wedding venue has more rustic elements, think about invitations with rustic edges and colors in tans, mint green, or light blue.
6. Personalize Your Invitations
What better way to bring your style to your wedding invitations than to personalize them. This is where you can really get creative with wording, embellishments, and different fonts. You can never go wrong with handwritten invitations for your guests. Handwritten invitations make them even more special.
7. Make Sure Your Dates Are Straight
Your wedding invitations should go out at least eight to ten weeks before your wedding date. Invitations should go out at least twelve weeks in advance if you are having a destination wedding. Be sure to include an RSVP card in your invitations and be very clear about the deadline for your guests to RSVP. Allow guests at least one month to RSVP. The earlier you mail them out, the more likely guests may forget.
