1. Bad Weather
First on our list on How to Handle Common Wedding Day Emergencies, is bad weather. This is one of the most important challenges you may have to deal with especially if you are having an outdoor wedding. Your wedding planner should always have a "rain plan" in place just in case it starts raining during the festivities. For example, you may have to move the wedding indoors. Also, be sure to have a plan in place if there are extreme heat conditions that can affect you or your guests. You don't want anyone to suffer from heat exhaustion or dehydration.
2. Traffic
We have to mention traffic on our list on How to Handle Common Wedding Day Emergencies. Traffic conditions are heavier in big cities and can be pretty unpredictable. This also may affect guests arriving on the time. Also, if there is construction going on this could also affect your wedding day. Guests can be rerouted which can delay their arrival time. We suggest doing your due diligence and staying aware of any changes in the roads or highways that could be a potential problem.
3. Unaccounted For Guests
It never fails. There is always a plus-one that was unaccounted for. Someone may have failed to respond to your RSVP or a family member may feel that it's ok to bring someone that you've known your whole life. Believe it or not, this actually happens. Whatever the case may be, you should still accommodate them. Your wedding planner should be able to notify the caterer or ask for extra seating at the venue.
4. Vendor Cancellations at the Last Minute
Things happen. You may encounter a vendor that cancels at the last minute on your wedding day. It is important to read and understand the vendor's cancellation policies. Vendor cancellations are probably one of the most common wedding day emergencies. This is one of the reasons that we recommend hiring a wedding planner. Wedding planners are equipped to handle these situations and you shouldn't have to worry about things like this on your wedding day.
5. Late Bridesmaids
You know how your friends are. When you choose those that you would like to be a part of your wedding be sure to choose wisely. If you have a friend that's always late, her behavior is not going to change on this one day. We are creatures of habit. We suggest asking your matron of honor or maid of honor to step up to make sure all the girls are in place and on time.
