The Wedding Venue

When it comes to the wedding venue, the difference between an independent wedding planner and an on-site venue coordinator is something to consider. While the independent wedding planner does not come with the venue, the on-site coordinator is included in the venue package. The onsite coordinator is familiar with the venue. However, a lot of wedding planners have planned numerous weddings at many of these local venues as well and can provide the same level of expertise and service.

Who They Work For

It's no secret that the difference between an independent wedding planner and an on-site venue coordinator is that the on-site venue coordinator works for the venue. However, the independent wedding planner works for the couple. One of the benefits of having an independent wedding planner is that you get to know your wedding planner on a more personal level.

Planning the Wedding

Another major difference between an independent wedding planner and an on-site coordinator is that the wedding planner assists in planning the entire wedding from start to finish while the on-site coordinator does not. Independent wedding planners attend rehearsals, design your wedding and reception, create timelines, assist you in staying within your financial comfort zone. The independent wedding planner takes care of the most intimate details while the on-site venue coordinator is more focused on the "big picture".

Attends Vendor Meetings

We also would like to point out that an independent wedding planner attends all of your vendor meetings with you while the on-site venue coordinator provides you with a list of vendor referrals. Not to say that the referrals aren't any good but an independent wedding planner not only makes vendor referral but more than likely has worked with the vendors before. The independent wedding planner manages your vendors and also becomes your main point of contact which allows you to be stress-free during the process.

Availability

On-site venue coordinators are usually only available to you on a certain day of the week or certain times of the day. Your independent wedding planner makes themselves available to you 24/7, if necessary, and is in constant communication with you during the entire wedding planning process.

What it Will Cost

Your on-site venue coordinator is included in your venue package. However, prices can vary if you decide to hire an independent wedding planner. Depending on the size of your wedding and who you are expecting to assist you with the details can help you to decide which one is best for you.
