What to Include on Your Wedding Guest Detail Cards

I know what you’re thinking. What is a wedding guest detail card? A wedding guest detail card is the insert that is included in your wedding invitation suite, in addition to your wedding invitation and RSVP card. The wedding detail card provides additional information to your guests regarding your wedding celebration. Many couples may be thinking, I have a wedding website, so "I don’t need a wedding guest detail card." On the contrary, we want to share our list of What to Include on Your Wedding Guest Detail Cards so that when it's time to get those wedding invitations in the mail, you already know what to include.

1. Wedding Venue Information

First on our list of What to Include on Your Wedding Guest Detail Cards is additional information about your wedding venue. Of course, important information such as the name and address of the venue should be listed. It would be helpful to include instructions on how to get there or may be even a map. You should also include the phone number of the venue as a backup just in case guests get lost.

2. Dress Code

Also, on our list of What to Include on Your Wedding Guest Detail Cards is information about the dress code. If you request that guests adhere to a specific dress code, such as formal attire, black tie, etc., you should include this information on your wedding guest detail card. This is also a great place to remind women to bring another pair of shoes that are meant for dancing.

3. Are Children Allowed

We all love children. However, if your budget doesn't allow for it, you may be unable to include children on the guest list. Your wedding guest detail cards are also a place to communicate whether or not children are allowed at your wedding. Including information about children attending your wedding will allow guests to arrange for child care on the day of your wedding. Also, be sure to include information about whether or not children will be allowed at your wedding on your wedding website.

4. Hotel Accommodations

If you plan on doing a “room block” for guests, you should also include this information on the wedding detail cards. Provide contact information, if any, of the person to speak with at the hotel and information on how to book. It would also be helpful to provide information about other hotels that are in the area so that your guests have more than one option to choose from.

5. Additional Rules or Requirements

If you have any additional rules or requirements that you would like your guests to adhere to, then your wedding guest detail card is the perfect place to spell it out. For instance, planning an “unplugged” ceremony is a great way to inform your guests in advance.

6. Transportation & Parking

Letting your guests know whether or not your venue has parking should be included on your wedding guest detail cards. Also, if you plan on providing transportation to and from the reception with shuttle buses this should be included here as well.
